Assistance is available for researchers and clinicians needing translations or guidance on planning studies. For example, we worked with a group at Queensland University in Australia on measuring development in Aboriginal children (where only three out of one hundred languages are written down)! In Icelandic translations and standardization we worked on substitute vocabulary and imagery (e.g., there are no snakes in Iceland although they do have some really big worms which we used instead!). With the Australian-English version, we worked on spelling, vocabulary, changes to common street signs, etc. In preparation for research in Zambia, we helped with needed changes to self-help skills items and helped ensure that all references to household objects, foods and beverages were culturally appropriate.

We also have extensive guidelines on how to create a quality translation and in most cases are able to help pay for a thoroughly vetted translation (meaning that it has been not only translated but also tried out with families and clinic staff.

We also donate, via license agreement, use of PEDS^® and PEDS:DM^® for unfunded dissertation studies and for efforts in developing countries. We also work with international publishers to help ensure that our measures are readily available in other countries (e.g., Australia, England, Taiwan, Slovenia, Iceland, etc.).
